Scorpion

Scorpion is a rank in invertebrate animals, belongs to arachnids, has eight legs, lives in hot and dry places hiding in the burrows and cracks and under stones and rocks, seeking for moisture and avoiding the sun heat. There are more than 2000 kinds of scorpion around the world. Most of them are poisonous. It has the poisonous gland at the end of tail. A sting of some kinds, comparing to a bit of snake, is very dangerous to human.

Reproduction

Most scorpions reproduce sexually, and most species have male and female individuals. However, some speciesreproduce through parthenogenesis. At time of mating, male looks for female, when finding it, male starts to court it (style of engagement). In some kinds, males meet face to face and females. Female raise its belly and air and move in vicious circle. Then, male starts to walk towards and backwards. This movements may last up to 10 minutes. Scorpion needs to several months or more than a year to ha its full shape. Female can produce from 2 to 100 small scorpions at every time, according to kinds. At birth, most recent scorpion, not exceeding some millimeters, climbs its mother back. It stays their tillfirst step which happens between the first two rounds and the fourth week. Gradually, it leaves its mother. Sexual maturity which has been reached in about 6 months to 6 years, and move from further 4 to 7 steps. Some kinds can live till 25 years. Biggest diseases that kill are from scorpions. It’s known that predation are done by some animals like birds and amphibians, snakes. The poison that scorpion uses to kill its victims, it also use it as a defense against enemies. It may not be always successful. When scorpions born, they are not valid for independent living, because its body still has some material which will make development and departure from mother. In addition, its bodies are lower than the legs with non-advanced jaw. The most know is the black scorpion.

Black Scorpion:

Symptoms of stung are different for each person, for example, high temperature, high or low blood pressure, increasing in sweating and salivation, involuntary tears, sever pain on the place of sting, diarrhea and vomiting. The stung is given a vaccine when he enters the hospital.

Combating Scorpions

Getting rid of waste, debris, rocks and stones next to the house to not harbor scorpions.
Extreme care to block all cracks and holes in floor and walls.
It’s preferred to make the family away from walls and not storing luggage and boxes under them for not make scorpions hide in them. It’s recommended to put legs of bed in glass pots, specially children’s beds, to prevent scorpions climbing them.
You can put a wool fabric under mattress, standing out it’s all four sides, wheremembrane of scorpion’s belly cannot bear friction with rough woolly lint. So it cannot walk on the wool fabric to reach the sleeping person.

Treatment of Scorpions’ sting:

If you get stung, you should put a compression garment between place of sting and the rest of body to prevent transferring and spreading poison in the whole body and fast to get out poison in place of sting.
Put a peace of ice on the place of sting to reduce absorbing of poison and keep it in the place of sting only.
Call the doctor to give the patient the antidote of scorpions’ poison.
